Cling to your faith
1 Timothy 1:19 Cling to your faith in Christ, and keep your conscience clear. For some people have deliberately violated their consciences; as a result, their faith has been shipwrecked.
The shipwrecked faith. This brings back memories of my few years in the Coast Guard. I saw several shipwrecks. All were caused by the same thing – a captain or a pilot who gets to comfortable with his job. He thinks he knows exactly where he is going so there is no need to REALLY pay attention. He has been in those waters a thousand times. What could go wrong, right? I believe we do the same thing in our walk with Christ. We think we have this Christlike thing down. We have been here a thousand times. and we let our guard down. We stop paying attention and before you know it, Satan puts a huge reef of temptation in front of us and we run aground. What’s the answer? 19 Cling to your faith… Just as a captain would cling to his helm, never leaving it. It’s a daily responsibility. It’s hard. Sometimes we wake up and just don’t feel like it. Too bad; because, if you let your guard down, even for a minute, you will crash and burn. Last thought…when a ship catches on fire it’s almost impossible to put it out, and it’s a very difficult task to repair it. So don’t let your ship wreck.
Nicely stated. And in some cases, it also helps to have shipmates who can come up to you and let you know that you're getting ready to steer into some rocks,eh? : )
True that. Good stuff Dave. Thanks for the comment.
